2. Let it boot to the login screen
3. Select 'Live session user', leave the password field black and press enter
4. Let the live session start

Result:
The launcher only contains 3 icons:
- Workspace switcher
- Places
- Files & Folder

There's no default applications.

will be fixed with the lighdm session detection to set the right gconf path before launching the session (and fix that case in fallback mode)

Let's workaround that (and will help people still using gdm as well), in setting the unity-2d gconf settings system-wide. We just keep the metacity changes in the unity-2d session.
