Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Screen starts flickering upon resume from hibernate on Toshiba NB100 (Ubuntu Certified) with Intel Corporation Mobile 945GME Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03). It makes the whole system unusable. There were no problems in Maverick, so I may consider it a regression.

It seems like the bug only appears when the battery is charging (and that is 99% of cases when I resume from hibernate). Though I may be wrong. Last time I checked it with the battery fully charged, it resumed without problems. Gonna double-check it now.

Now it DOES appear even when the battery is charged. It was okay in beta 1 but broken again in beta 2.

Also for me on an Asus Eee Box B202 with 945GME graphics. No flickering or similar when the analogue VGA was in use, but just switched to DVI->HDMI connection and the flickering occurs on resume from S4. Have noticed also the following consistent behaviour:

Suspend to S4 -> Resume from S4 -> Flickering occurs -> Suspend to S3 -> Resume from S3 -> Flickering has gone away again

I can confirm the exactly same behavior as reported by Bert on my Samsung NC10!

Same for me on NC10 - how do I get 2.6.38.9 kernel upgrade?

You have to enable the "natty-proposed" updates and upgrade/update your system!

Thanks for that - managed to upgrade to 2.6.38.10 and fix the problem.

several users have reported that the latest available natty kernel (2.6.38-10.46) has fixed this issue. Can you confirm?
