Bug Description

even after bug 728790 was fixed it is still possible to quit unity

try this:
1. Open a terminal, maximize it
2. Press alt+f1 (launcher gets focus)
3. Press 'Esc' key.
4. Now click on the SoundMenu and scrub back to bfb, you'll see a menu with 'close' item.
5. Click it, unity crashes.

Yep, looks like it is fixed for pressing F10. This still happens if you scrub the mouse over to the application menu after clicking another menu. And yes, I'm not sure how but I managed to focus Unity itself. It is much trickier with 3.6.8.

I guess that other issue being fixed makes this a bit of a non-issue, but is it not possible to fix this at its source? (I'm assuming the source is indicator-appmenu or Unity's connection to it). I'm a little concerned that these fixes could be missing the point…

With unity 3.8.2 and trunk, it is possible to close unity via the global menu with the keyboard, as follows:
1. Move to the launcher with Alt + F1.
2. Press escape.
3. Press F10, and using the arrow, navigate through the indicators till you land on the file menu.

You can then choose close from there.

Oooh, if I understand bug #703555, our permanent fix from the source should arise when indicator-appmenu is patched. Is that correct?
