Bug Description
Binary package hint: unity-place-files
With the current transparency level in the places window (s) if files and or folders are on the desktop in that area they show thru too much
A bit distracting
Can't find an easily accessible means to adjust, if there is one..

Agreed - it's very hard to read application names and distinguish icons when there's something busy behind the "lens". Decreasing the transparency and (preferably) placing the text on a black background would help.
