Hi Thorsten,
installing slapd on an Indy (mips) fails with the following error:
Selecting previously deselected package slapd.
(Reading database ... 18345 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking slapd (from .../slapd_
Setting up slapd (2.1.30-1) ...

dpkg: error processing slapd (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
slapd
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
I tried the same on my i386 box and it works perfectly. I tried package fro=
m sarge=20
as well as from sid. There is no difference.
On http://
aybe=20
/var/lib/ldap is missing, but it gets created from slapd postinstall so run=
ning=20
dpkg a second time the error should disappear, what does not happen.
I first thought it is my fault, so i tried it in a changeroot on that machi=
ne as=20
well, but no change.
I set severity to grave as slapd on mips is not installable. You cant even =
create
the base datebase by hand.
Greetings
Martin

Sorry for reopening the bug, but to me it seems that the bug is not yet
fixed. I still get:

Sorry for reopening the bug, but to me it seems that the bug is not yet=20
fixed. I still get:

Hi,
i did some extended research on that bug and discovered that changing the
backend from bdb to ldbm resolves the problem. So there seems to be some problem
with bdb.
I did an strace when running slapadd. It's attached.

Are you sure that there wasn't simply something left in /var/lib/ldap
from a previous slapadd attempt? We should probably handle that more
gracefully though. Try removing /var/lib/ldap/* and installing again. I
bet that works.

Hi Roland,
not, it does not work. It tried it now for four times. Every time i installed
slapd i removed (purged) slapd before and did an rm -rf /var/lib/ldap.
I also tried the following:
debrootstrap sid /tmp/slapdrootstrap
after that finished,
chroot /tmp/slapdrootstrap
apt-get install slapd
and get the same.
Have you ever tried to install the current Debian slapd/unstable package on mips?

The severity for a bug that renders a package unusable is "grave", not
"serious".
However, I am temporarily tagging this bug sarge-ignore, because there
is would otherwise block a version of openldap2 with other RC fixes from
propagating into testing tonight.
Thanks,

Subject: db4.2: problems for mips(el) fixed
Hi,
I fixed this bug for unstable. I did only minimal changes, so that
this fix would also be ok for testing. I (or more correct: Frank)
tested this package on a mips-machine, and installation of slapd works
now. Thanks for Thiemo for the fix.
Cheers,
Andi

Please make sure that /var/lib/ldap exists and is empty and retry the
installation.
