Can you post the complete log of the command? I guess that one of the maintainer scripts of your installed packages fails and would like to know which one.

Changed in apt (Ubuntu):
status: New → Incomplete

For example with copy and paste from the terminal that shows the error. If it's in a graphical window, you could make a screenshot.

Alternatively you could open a terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal) and run $ sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade from there and paste the output here.

Maybe the package is damaged, I just updated libc-bin fine on a Maverick system. Can you open a terminal and run there
$ sudo apt-get clean
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get upgrade

and report back if this cures the problem?

i'm sure that libc-bin isn't damaged...infact i reinstalled it again and running
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
...all works fine. The problem "Configuring libc-bin" appears every time that i have subprocess error in kpackagekit or muon

affects: apt (Ubuntu) → kpackagekit (Ubuntu)

There are some packages that are failing to install with PK, aptDaemon, QApt, currently we could not yet reproduce and find what's going wrong.

And the reporter mentioned Muon, so it should redirect to the proper application even though KPackageKit suffers from the same problem.
