Thank you for giving us that information. I have looked around and found some information that may be able to help. If you could go to https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshootingProcedure and run through everything from Step 2 onwards, that would be brilliant! That will give us a LOT more information to see where the problem is. If it gives any output (as in Step 3 for example), do not submit it to Answers as it says, since you already have this bug report open, so just *attach* it here.
If you need any help with this or not sure how to do it, come into the #ubuntu-bugs channel on irc.freenode.net and we can help you along with it, and hopefully this can be fixed for the next release :)
Thank you again.

I have just noticed in the logs above that you are using Ubuntu 10.04. This is no problem, but it might have been fixed in 10.10 or 11.04. Can you test the Ubuntu 11.04 Alpha 1 Live CD please? It can run as a Live CD so there is no risk of data corruption on your hard drive. You can grab it from http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/releases/11.04/alpha-1/ by choosing the correct iso, i.e. x86 or AMD64. There is no need to re-run through the steps on the Live CD, but if you can test that it would be great (it may just work). Thank you again.

I found a solution by MerolWarrior in this page http://www.ubuntu-es.org/node/133676... and woks perfectly

Editing the alsa configuration

sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

and then writing in the last line

options snd-hda-intel model=eapd probe_mask=1 position_fix=1

Press (ctrl+O) for save and close (ctrl+X)

I assume it doesn't work on an 11.04 Live CD and that you have tested this, therefore I have marked it Triaged. It would be best to open a new bug report for the microphone problem, and perhaps mention this bug report for triagers' reference for debugging information.
Thank you again for reporting this to us and good luck!

Carlos Alfonso Juárez Navarro, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p linux <replace-with-bug-number>

Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.11-rc5

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, please comment as to why specifically you were unable to test it and add the following tags:
kernel-unable-to-test-upstream
kernel-unable-to-test-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding.
