Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug as the description doesn't include the needed information for debugging.

Please check by connecting a mouse that if it works or not. Also, please try to run the following commands into your terminal:

cat /proc/bus/input/devices >~/devices
xinput --list > ~/xinput
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log > Xorg.0.log
sudo evtest /dev/input/eventX > ~/evtest

After this, please attach the 'devices', 'xinput', 'Xorg.0.log' and 'devices' files to this bug report.

I attached a wireless mouse and it works fine.
Please note that touchpad also works except for the bottom part (hardware is tested and works ok in Ubuntu 10.04).
I am attaching the files you requested below.

@Igor,
I was just checking that it's correctly detected and the touch area misdetection doesn't interfere with Horizontal-Scrolling, the Bug is almost confirmed but we need to query for some info about the device and to confirm the misdetection, to do so:
Please run: xev >~xev
it will popup a small box, please put the arrow in it and try to touch the Undetected space, then close.
and
use the xinput --list to find your Touchpad's ID, it should print something like this:
⎜ ↳ Touchpad/Synaptics id=10 [slave pointer (2)]
now get id=<ID>, and put it into the following command and run:
xinput --list-props <ID> >~/xinput

Then attach the 'xev' and 'xinput' to this Bug report.

Ok, I did the test, if it can help I can do the same on my 10.04 install where the touchpad is correctly detected.

Your touchpad is being improperly detected as a Synaptics Clickpad. I fixed the Clickpad detection in a patch for this bug:

I hope your patch finds it's way into 10.10. as a SRU.

sorry, how did you know about the improper detection, it had been referred to in the xinput, devices and Xorg.0.log as Synaptics "Touchpad". also I need to increase my knowledge with this package, so if you have some references, I will appreciate this.

@Ahmed
The title of this bug stuck out to me because the bottom area of the Clickpad is disabled in the kernel for button detection. All I had to do was take a look at the Dmesg log to confirm the problem. The Dmesg log shows "Synaptics: Clickpad mode enabled".

Same thing here with a Thinkpad R60 on 10.10 .

xinput --list
  ↳ SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad id=10 [slave pointer (2)]

dmesg
[15504.179498] Synaptics Touchpad, model: 1, fw: 6.2, id: 0x81a0b1, caps: 0xa04793/0x300000/0x0
[15504.179502] Synaptics: Clickpad mode enabled

So I guess, my problem is also fixed with that patch.
