Thanks for reporting this package and helping to make ubuntu better.

I suspect that the graphics got messed up because some things depending
on each other upgraded and others did not. To get passed the mysql
upgrade failure, please do

 apt-get purge mysql
 apt-get remove mysql

and then continue the upgrade:
        apt-get upgrade

If you have data/config files to back up, please back them up by hand
first before the purge, but assuming they are all automatically installed
by other applications (i.e. you didn't create any tables yourself) then
just purging should be safe.

Changed in mysql-dfsg-5.1 (Ubuntu):
status: New → Incomplete
importance: Undecided → Medium

Download full text (3.2 KiB)

When I run the command: "sudo apt-get purge mysql" it gives me this error:
"dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to
correct the problem." I then ran "sudo dpkg --configure -a". it gave me
this: "dpkg: error processing mysql-server-5.1 (--configure):
Package is in a very bad inconsistent state - you should
 reinstall it before attempting configuration.
Errors were encountered while processing:
mysql-server-5.1" I tried reinstalling it, but it did not work either. I
cannot remove it either. Please help.
