Bug Description

"A Getting Things Done application which aims at getting your mind like water."

What the hell does that even mean?

I have no idea. All I know is it has to do with getting things done, but I have no idea how it's set up or what the interface looks like or why I should use it.

Interestingly, if you install it in gnome, you need some sort of server application for it to properly work?
Should I file a new bug about that. It sounds like a dependency issue.

tlbrown do you intend to work on this bug? It seems tlbrown has accidentally assigned self to the bug. Unassigning.

Could someone forward this bug to debian? for more info : https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Debian/Bugs
Once submitted upstream , do report back here with the upstream bug number. Thanks in advance!

Matthew Paul Thomas (mpt) wrote :

tlbrown, package descriptions are plain text. It's much easier for others to review your work if you use plain text attachments rather than Microsoft Word documents.

Secondly, while descriptions are plain text, Ubuntu Software Center presents them with a proportional font. For this reason (as well as general tastefulness), it's inappropriate to use equals signs for headings, or wiki-style formatting in general.

Thirdly, the description you have provided is targeted at potential developers of the project itself. The description that appears in USC should be quite different: it should explain to people who might usefully install the package by itself, why they would want to do that. Even if the package is for developers, there will be some differences.

Fourthly, and most importantly, you have completely the wrong program. The Zanshin we're discussing here is not "a library for collaboration over HTTP, WebDAV and CalDAV" <http://chandlerproject.org/Projects/ZanshinProject> but rather a Getting Things Done application <http://www.baixaki.com.br/linux/download/zanshin.htm>.

Where is Zanshin maintained? I was recently told it was Debian, but upon investigation I found no trace of it upstream.

I've been able to find this on Google Code http://code.google.com/p/zanshin/, and the only other software project I could find was " library for collaboration over HTTP, WebDAV and CalDAV."

This doesn't appear to be getting maintained anywhere.

It turns out Zanshin is no longer a part of Debian unstable (sid). The package list here, http://packages.debian.org/unstable/allpackages, makes no mention of it (do a CTRL+F search).

I'm going to find out what should happen to the Ubuntu package.

The description in 0.2.0-1 package is:

Description: to-do list manager
Zanshin is a powerful yet simple application for managing your day to day
actions and notes. It helps you organize and reduce the cognitive pressure of
what one has to do in his job and personal life. You'll never forget anything
anymore, getting your mind like water.

It seems better to me (but I'm biased). Feel free to re-open if needed.
