Bug Description

Please backport xmoto 0.1.16-3 from edgy. This version has lots of new features (http://xmoto.free.fr/dev/ChangeLog) over the dapper version. The package builds cleanly on dapper without any changes.

Thanks

It does not compile cleanly in Dapper.

This is really strange. It builds fine for me on my amd64 Dapper pbuilder. Your build seems to fail because it can't find libode0-dev, which exists in Dapper universe:

roshan@altair:~$ apt-cache madison libode0-dev
libode0-dev | 1:0.5-5 | http://localhost dapper/universe Packages
       ode | 1:0.5-5 | http://localhost dapper/universe Sources
       ode | 1:0.5-5 | http://localhost edgy/universe Sources

I'm attaching the output of pbuilder.

It does build fine. Approved for backporting.

Something has gone wrong with this backport. The build seems to have succeeded on all architectures (https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/xmoto/0.1.16-3~dapper1) but the archive only contains the powerpc package (http://packages.ubuntu.com/dapper-backports/games/xmoto). Five days have elapsed since the package was built. Dapper-backports doesn't contain any older version of the package, so this can't be related to bug #58144.

Actually, Roshan, I think this is bug 58144 in a different guise. /srv/launchpad.net/builddmaster/rejected/20060831-114331-240421-335609/uploader.log says:

10:43:35 INFO Rejected:
10:43:35 INFO xmoto: Version newer than that in BACKPORTS. 0.1.16-3~dapper1 >= 0.1.16-3~dapper1

So I think another effect of bug 58144 may be to only allow one binary for anything in backports. Celso, could you confirm this theory?

From a cursory glance at the build logs for backported packages and
the archives, this indeed seems to be the case. Whichever package arch
finishes building first gets uploaded, the rest get rejected. If two
or more arches build within ~30 mins of each other, they all get
uploaded. This race condition seems to match what you're describing.

Sorry, I was wrong. The archive contains amd64, i386, powerpc, and
sparc versions of nexuiz 2.0-1~dapper1, even though the powerpc
package got built ~100 minutes after the other three arches.

However, the archive shows the same modification date for all the
binaries, so perhaps packages really wait that long to be uploaded.

Colin Watson (cjwatson) wrote :

nexuiz landed in the NEW queue once backported, so the build time didn't matter so much in that case; all that mattered there was when an archive administrator approved the binaries.

X-Moto is at 0.2.1 since 2006-09-14, I think it would be nice to have this version in dapper backports - look at changelog:

 * X-Moto is no more ALPHA !
 * ppc computer can now read and write x86 replays (patch by Dave Vasilevsky)
 * upload highscores from the game
 * webrooms configuration
 * Man pages (from debian package)
 * desktop files and icon for kde/gnome (by SnowBear)
 * -nowww option to force xmoto to not connect on the web
 * -testTheme option to test your themes
 * new functions for scripted levels
 * grip parameter for blocks (to make ice blocks for example)
 * auto-adaptation of the camera (depending on the gravity/wind)
 * uglyer ugly mode (for slower computer ; press F1 to switch ugly mode)
 * translations [french] (for unix only)
 * collision between body and sprites
 * level preview animation before playing (patch by Frederic Huard)
 * Some minor improvements
 * Several bugs fixed.

See ubuntu bug #57322 for more info about including new X-moto into Edgy.
