Bug Description
System: Ubuntu 10.04
App: gtk-recordMyDesktop 0.3.8
This bug is present when using "Encode on the Fly" method in gtk-recordMyDes
When taking a captured ogv file and playing it in Movie Player, there seems to be a bit of an issue, it plays ok but if i move the window itself the video feedback stops but the audio still plays, it'll take a bit of playing around with the video window to get the image back. This doesn't happen to any other file (ogv or not) that is played with the Movie Player.
Also if i take this file and edit it via OpenShot video editor every single frame is pure white. This doesn't happen with ogv files recorded from my webcam, or other sources.
The white frames used to be a problem in Ubuntu Karmic but the frames would only last 3-5 seconds and the video would play normally after that. If i was to split the video in half for instance, now both halves will have the 3-5 second white frames. But since Lucid this bug seemed to have grown out of control with constant white frames.
Also if i was to try and convert this ogv file directly from ffmpeg or mencoder they both will "agree" that they can't recognize the ogv file, even though other ogv files are converted easily and all dependencies are installed for the ogv conversion.
If i turn off Encode on the Fly, when moving windows the video becomes "boxy" or "choppy" and when importing it to a video editor such as openshot the video playback looks as so: http://
So im kinda stuck with my ability to make tutorials to the public... =(
Yes, I have been trying to create screencasts with gtk-recordMyDesktop (how do you get the interface to return after you're done recording?!) and edit in OpenShot video editor also, and I have exactly the same results: it won't work. I tried some other methods to convert the video to AVI and even tried editing it in a decent Windows video editor, but the video looks like your screenshot, more or less. I run 64-bit Lucid.
