French Gwibber name bad translated

Gwibber, in the 10.04 french version, is called "Client de micro blogage": "micro blogage" is not a french word, neither english. It is should be name "Client de Microblogging" ou "Client de Réseaux Sociaux".

blogage is the word that the office québécois de la langue française proposes as a translation of blogging. It is rather common to follow their suggestions and I'd recommend following this one as well. To me, this bug can be closed as "invalid" or "won't fix".

Well, "blogage" may appeal to people from Quebec, but it will sound very weird to the french natives, because "blogage" is a frenchisation of blogging and french does not allow such procedures: either the english word is used, either a pure french translation is done.
"client de réseaux sociaux"would be therefore the best solution.

@xan : people from Quebec are French native speakers, and our translations are for all French speakers not just for French (from France) people.
There are many examples of French words wich are "Frenchisation" of English Words (bulldog -> bouledogue; packet-boat -> paquebot; fuel -> fuel; bowl -> bol; reporting -> reportage; etc.)

"blogage" sounds perfect for me and it's already used by other translations teams.
However we should write "microblogage" in one word.

Well, well, it was not in my attention to hurt the french-speaking community. I'll simply say, that the frenchisation of "blogging" is not entered yet in the common language and that is why I created this topic. I agree that many english words are frenchised, but I have never heard the "blogage" word and it could sound quite strange to french speakers who are not used to frenchised english words. :o)

Hope I cleared my point of view - as it is my first contribution to Ubuntu, I do not want that it turns into a fight ;)

To be consistent ith what's being discussed here, you might also want to change 'micro-blogage' to 'microblogage' in:

https://translations.launchpad.net/gwibber/trunk/+pots/gwibber/fr/2/+translate

In the future there will be message sharing between upstream projects in Launchpad and Ubuntu, but for now the synchronisation needs to be done by translators (or by maintainers downloading the translations from Ubuntu).
