Pager doesn't retain configuration

Bug Description

Binary package hint: kicker

The pager, that kicker applet to switch between desktops, seems to loose configuration upon logging out and in again.
For example, I change the number of rows from "Automatic" to two (in a tiny panel) and I also set it to transparent instead of classic.
Both configurations are lost every time I log out and in again, and it is very disturbing.
Thank you.

I had this problem when I upgraded from breezy to dapper, and now it happened again in the upgrade from dapper to edgy.

Clearing out ~/.kde fixed it for me last time.

Confirmed on Kubuntu Edgy beta (actually, Ubuntu Edgy Beta + Kubuntu-desktop) after a fresh installation.
It's much more convenient to have 9 workspaces on a 3x3 grid than on a 5+4 one! :-(
It does retain config, but only after some tries (don't know why...).

Anyway, clearing ~/.kde isn't a solution at all!

A possible workaround which I found is removing the Pager from the panel, using right-click -> Remove from panel -> Applet -> Pager, and then adding it again. This way it remembers the configuration.

come from?

Have a good day,
Eric

I haven't had this happen to me since I first tried edgy. Does anybody else still have this problem, especially on Feisty?

I am using Feisty.
The actual setting not retained I am experiencing of is relative to minipager applet's *number of lines* (which actually can be 1,2,3,automatic).
In my case I have 4 virtual desktops, In the minipager I want them displayed on a single line, so the setting is to 1.
NB: I have the auto slide desktops setting when desktop's border reached (so it usually switch/cycle between desktops whenever I reach the *left/right* border with mouse for a number of seconds)
Now whenever kwin get restarted during an active session (eg: when it may crash, or even not, I reload it with `kwin --replace`) this thing occurs.
I have my 4 desktops displayed on 1 line in the minipager applet, ok. BUT the autoswitching of desktops triggered by mouse pointer reaching border occurs even when *top and bottom* borders get touched (like the 4 mini desktops were on a 2x2 scheme not 1x4), which obviously is not what I expected and not what used to do before kwin restart.
NOW if from now I change the number of lines for virtual desktops to be something other than 1, and again later back to 1. I am back with the right setting (which was working before kwin's reload)
