Incorrect translation encoding

As shown in the screenshot, Arabic translation didn't appear correctly. I don't know why but it seems that encoding of translation file is incorrect.

I suggest to change encoding of translation file to UTF-8.

Thanks for the bug report.

First of all, I have to admit that none of the development team knows very much about translations, so bear with us.
When I bundled translations with 0.92.3 I downloaded them all as .mo files. If I understand correctly, that means they are compiled and the character encoding cannot be changed. Perhaps I should have used .po files?

Test this for me: download the Arabic translation and replace the locale/ar files in the Keryx directory with those files. I would suggest trying both .mo and .po files.

First of All, sorry for delay >:o

After downloading .po file and compiling it to .mo, I got same error.
For that I think this problem related directly to Keryx GUI (wxWidget).

Do you've any suggestions ?

I am afraid I have no further suggestions at the moment. Strangely, the Arabic translation works fine on my system when I run 'LANGUAGE=ar python keryx.py'. Maybe you should try running Keryx with "LANGUAGE=ar" at the beginning? It's worth a shot.

Take a look at the attached screenshot to see what it looks like on my system.

Yep, the screenshot above shows correct Arabic characters so I modified
LANGUAGE variable in my ubuntu then I got correct characters but in
Windows the problem still exist although I changed the LANG variable to
LANG=En

My suggestion for fixing this problem is putting combo box in Welcome
widget for choosing language interface instead of auto selection of
language.

    * I modified the translation of Keryx since months ago but I noticed
      that you didn't use my modifications (the current translation is
      too bad).
    * In Windows, I tried to change language of the system by adding the
      following lines:

R:\PortableApps\keryx\win32>set LANG=En

R:\PortableApps\keryx\win32>keryx.exe

That may be the best way. I will look into it.

If your changes were made since August, they probably simply haven't been included yet. I will update the translations when we release 0.92.4 (soon).

I found that using 'set LANG=ar' on a virtual machine running Windows XP made Keryx run using the Arabic translation, and it looked fine. Very strange.

Before releasing the new version, I suggest to send e-mail to all
translators for updating their translations. Do you agree?

Absolutely. We plan to have at least two weeks of testing, two weeks of beta, then release. And every two weeks I will be updating the translations. So I will send an email to the translators at the beginning of the four weeks. Will that give them enough time to do their magic?
