Hi,

First of all, I don't know how you disabled PeX from program preferences because this settings is not there. At the moment, qBittorrent does not allow to disable PeX because I did not thing that it would be interesting/necessary.

Now, if you tell me that some trackers require PeX to be disabled, then it may be interesting to add this setting to qBittorrent.
Can you give me examples of trackers that require PeX to be disabled?

I don't see the reason for this because torrents marked as private are not advised on DHT or PeX as far as I know.

Hi again!!

Already I am sorry, I misinterpreted the option translated ( not wrong
translated but native language is a little bit diferent and bad induce-me).

The tracker that i was talking abou is www.torrentleech.org. They dont alow
DHT And PeX and they give this answer for justification:
"*What is DHT and Why must i turn it off*

DHT must be disabled in your client, DHT can cause your stats to be recorded
incorrectly and could be seen as cheating also disable PEX (peer exchange)
Anyone using this will be banned for cheating the system. Check your
snatchlist regularly to ensure stats are being recorded correctly, allow
30mins for the tracker to update your stats."

If I understood well what you said there is no problem leaving those options
on because the torrents are private... I'm confused... Can leave those
options on without problems?

Once again sorry for misinterpretation and congratulations i'm loving
qbittorrent.

If you want more information about the tracker checkout:

or

Pedro Mesquita*

Hi, I am using V2.2.6 with Ubuntu 9.10. I am also having the same problem. ie: Cannot turn off PEX.

I have just tried the following:
1. Go to "Program Preferences > Bittorrent" and uncheck "Enable Peer Exchange (PeX)"
2. Restart qBittorrent
3. Program console says "Pex Support [OFF]"

Hi Chris,

aqis > How do you know PeX is still on?

When you look at the* trackers status icon box* [bottom left], (next to
general, peers, urls seeds, files) it always indicates PEX is on. {see
attached screenshot.jpg)

Nope, it will not work for me; just tried again.

This is my reason for NOT using PEX.
In /mutorrent,/ it has an indicator "peer dll" telling me how fast the
leeched is downloading.
This is extremely useful to me as it indicates numerous things. (btw I
am a very experienced uploader)

1) Tells me if the Leecher is serious about downloading or just being a
roaming pest.
2) It can indicate if the Leecher is "sharing" a connection on the same
router (sometimes this is overcome by using UTP in , /mutorrent,/"enable
bandwidth management" and it seems to punch through ok, though not always)
3) It also sometimes seems to indicate that the leecher is downloading
mulltiple files simultaneously. This i have proven.
4) By NOT using PEX i can avoid slow leechers sharing with others who
want to get on with life.
I now use /mutorrent/ over Wine in conjunction with qbittorrent.

As an aside I would love to be able to delete trackers out of the
torrent permanently as some torrents have a huge amount of trackers
embedded inside the torrent file and are superfluous.
qbittorrent seems to have had private tracker sites in mind, using only
one tracker.
Ktorrent has a feature which is great. Ktorrent tells me how many
Seeders and how many leechers.
Having Seeds and Peers combination is useless to me.

I hope I have been clear about this.
Thanks

PeX can't be disabled.
After unchecking the option, PeX continues to work and shows the number of peers.
On qbitttorrent version 2.6.6 portableapps.
I must disable it when using private trackers.
Thanks

@dan: Yes, a restart is indeed needed. If it is not stated in program preferences, I should probably add this information.
