Bug Description

It seems that something in the combination between programs firefox and rhythmbox freezes the menu at top. (Perhaps some addons for firefox are causing the problem?)
The mouse does move, but one cannot click items.
(I am new to ubuntu and learning day by day. I am enjoying the system immensly. keep up the good work)

I don't know if a screenshot will help you much.
I can tell about the open programs last time it occured: firefox, rhytmbox, filezilla, file-explorer (places).
There was also some Flash going on in one of the tabs in firefox.

Trond H. Klykken (trond-klykken) wrote : The 'freeze' bug

it might appear that the Transmission Bittorrent Client might have to do something with the freeze.
I tried to close down programs to see if it affected the freeze (sometimes manually shutting down the programs with alt-f, then quit, as the mouse didn't register button clicks within ubuntu).
I closed all open programs in different order to check which was most probable to "lock" ubuntu.
finally I closed down programs in this order: Firefox , File browser, Amsn, rhythmbox and then Transmission.
the screen "unfroze" when closing Transmission. (I can't recall if this program was running during my first encounter with the freeze.)
I am sorry to be unable to provide more details about this problem.
I also hope it's alright to inform about this bug, as it is quite an irritating one.

I can't reproduce the freeze.
Seems today, that the freeze happens no matter what programs are open.
Sometimes I get the impression that there is an invisible window. This is backed by the fact that when I earlier today experienced the freeze, I tried to close down any window without any luck.
Suddenly one window popped up, that I believe belonged to bittornado.
I closed that one and everything was stuck still. no alt-tab possible. the mouse didn't interact with the windows.
Reboot was the only solution.

the problem lasts.
this time only three programs up: rhythmbox, transmission and firefox.
I was watching a video on youtube, when the program was last encountered.
managed to close down firefox and the problem (seemed to have) dissappeared.
