Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

I was really eager to try the New Ubuntu and I know it's a RC but I an totally unable to get any sign's of life from my Fujistu Stylistic Wacom Pentablet. 9.04 supported everything "out the box" with only a minor annoyance of the pen going out of alignment if the display was rotated then the system put to sleep.

9.10 however doesn't see anything relating to my wacom devices (and I have tried two tablets just to be sure) and from what I was reading from the RC notes regarding Wacom I was expecting it to be as seamless as 9.04 but with extra's.

I have also managed to try an xorg.conf I know to work on the older xorg releases copied from a tablet running Fedora 10, and still no joy, if I can be of any further help with testing please let me know.

I am not sure, but I had to install the setserial package to make the wacom digitizer work.

Hi Robert,

Thanks for your advise, I remember I had to do something similar on an older ubuntu (I think)... I installed setserial via Synaptic and sadly still no joy, no sign's of life of the Wacom. I have now also tried downgrading the wacom input and wacom tools to the versions I know worked from Jaunty and sadly still no sign's of life...

I have also then tried re-upgrading the wacom packages after installing setserial but again nothing.. I have checked the Xorg log's following all these changes and it doesn't identify a Wacom device at all... Is there anything else that might be worth a try? if it is the new Xorg how hard is that to downgrade and would it be worth testing? Any further advise or suggestions welcome. thanks

Not an issue in Lucid thus far, Managed to do a test build over the weekend and almost runs like a dream.. I haven't yet managed to configure or test screen and cursor rotation but plan to do so sometime this week. Did stumble on a couple of small issues, onBoard still goes to the background when being prompted to confirm password for admin tasks which is a bit annoying when you have no other input accept onBoard's on screen keyboard. Also the current kernel image (.24 if I remember correctly) causes the whole system to fail to boot the Ubuntu logo appears on boot then the whole thing sit's with no activity at all - rolled back to .19 kernel and removed .24 all working again.

This looks like a big step in the right direction, with a few more tweaks like onBoard fully staying above ALL windows regardless and this could be a real winner.. Will keep you posted regarding other "finds" if you like?

Regards

Hello,
with my FS-Tablet (t4010) I have only one problem. With Karmic and Lucid work the wacom on the live-cd correct, but when I use the installation on my harddisk; the wacom work only after a second login (after a restart of X). Did anyone knew something about wacom-tools for lucid?

Sorry Bryce not had much time to reply of late due to some family commitments, I can confirm this appears to be fully resolved in 10.04lts (I'm replying from it now) - OnBoard works very well at login and locked screen so very pleased, overall a huge step forward. Only pain now is I had to add i925.modeset=1 to grub for the 845intel graphics which caught me off guard at first - and sometimes when waking from suspend the stylus acts like I'm holding down a function button which can be a real pain as that's unrecoverable as far as I can tell without fully restarting X.

Aside from minor issues it's a huge step forward and is now fully usable as an undocked pentablet, if I can be of any further help please let me know
