I was unable to reproduce this problem.
Testing Environment:
- Jaunty (9.04) x86_32, running the same basic system/kernel described in your bug report.[0]
- Using the current version of Pidgin (found in the standard repositories), originally provided by the default Ubuntu installation (w/ security updates, etc). [1]
- A preexisting Yahoo Instant Messenger account, which was successfully added to Pidgin. See [2] below.

****EDIT: I'm unclear whether you're having this problem *only* in Pidgin, or in other IM clients as well. (This is my fault; I originally misread the bug report. To wit:
- - -
I may have misinterpreted this bug report altogether -- after testing Pidgin (see [2] below) without running into any problems, I came back and noticed this (qtd from OP):
> it just staying idle and no error message is displaying
> im *unable* to login into yahoo n other IM's too [my emphasis]
I originally (mis)read this bug as "I can't log into Yahoo with Pidgin, but other (yahoo) IM clients work just fine." (If, by some fluke, that *IS* what you meant to say, see the [2] below.)
- - -
However: If that's not a typo -- ie, you can't seem to connect to Yahoo with *any* IM clients -- then kindly provide some additional info:
1. What causes you to suspect Pidgin (and not one of the other IM clients you tried) as the root cause of this issue? Is it possible that this is more of a "Trouble Connecting to Yahoo Messenger Accounts in General" kind of bug?
2. You said you've tried other IM clients, but have you tried to log in (on that same system) using a different Yahoo account? In other words, are *all* Yahoo clients unable to connect, or is it just one account in particular?
3. Can you successfully connect (with the same Yahoo account) on other machines, under Windows, etc? In other words, are you having this problem (with your Yahoo account) *everywhere*, or only when using Ubuntu on this machine?

To better understand your problem, please post back with answers to these questions (1,2,3, above) -- and please feel free to add any other relevant details you think might be important or useful in diagnosing your problem. Thanks!

[2] To test, I opened Pidgin, added a new account as described below, and was able to connect/chat/IM a quick "testing 123" message to a friend, receive a reply, etc. Nothing unexpected happened; no obvious errors occurred.
Specifically:
(i. ) I opened Pidgin, clicked "Accounts", "Manage Accounts," and then "Add."
(ii.) I setup my (previously existing) Yahoo account with the following options/config:
