Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager
after coming back to my computer after the screen had blanked, and waking by wiggling the mouse i spotted a new icon in the notification panel. mousing over gave the following message.
"Session active, not inhibited, screen idle.
If you can see this text, your display server is broken and you should notify you distributer.

As quoted in Richard's blog, this is a Xorg bug, It seems we need to apply his IDLECOUNTER patches to our version of Xorg.
