Today i update my dapper bia update-manager and the packaged break here....

should be fixed on the next update in an hour or two (it was a typo)

after this upgrade and a reboot gdm failed to start Xsession. .Xsessions-errors contains:
/etc/gdm/PreSession/Default: Registering your session with wtmp and utmp
/etc/gdm/PreSession/Default: running: /usr/bin/sessreg -a -w /var/log/wtmp -u /var/run/utmp -x "/var/lib/gdm/:0.Xservers" -h "" -l ":0" "madko"
/etc/gdm/Xsession: Beginning session setup...
mkdtemp: private socket dir: Permission denied

ok sudo chmod 777 /tmp fixed it. don't know why permission on /tmp has changed.

I'm having the same problem, but to any package I need to install or upgrade. I follow the tips in http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=352766, to run fsck, but after that I still have the problem.
