Bug Description
Hello, thanks for reading this!
Here is what I observed :
* Plugging jack headphones does not mute the laptop speakers. (I can confirm this for Hardy Heron, Intrepid Ibex and Jaunty Jackalope releases.)
* It is not possible to manually mute speakers when headphones are plugged since both of them are simultaneously controlled by Volume Control 'Front', 'Headphones' and 'PCM' tracks.
* Volume Control 'Front Mic' and 'Front Mic Boost' tracks control both laptop and headset microphone.
(Sure for Jaunty, I do not know for any other release. I will post a comment as soon as I will know.)
Following bug reports may be related, being not sure I preferred not to modify them.

I should be happy to do an exhaustive search in order to merge / assign packages to related topics, yet I need some mentoring to make the triage decisions. Do not hesitate to contact me if you are ready to give it,

Hi Gonzalo Bulnes,
Unfortunately it seems this bug is still an issue. Can you confirm this issue exists with the Karmic Alpha 9.10 release. Images for testing are available at http:// cdimage. ubuntu. com/daily- live/current/ . Please let us know your results.
If the issue remains while still running Karmic, please run the following command which will automatically gather and attach updated debug information:
apport-collect -p linux 414243
Thanks in advance.
