Completely useless bug report.

Guys please LEARN TO READ!!!!

On the Terminal there is written several times:
...
fmtutil-sys failed. Output has been stored in
/tmp/fmtutil.YDqeucxh
Please include this file if you report a bug.
...

Do you actually believe we write that just for the fun of it?

Best wishes

Norbert

Dear Dr Preining,
if you do not want to help out with ubuntu problems then remove yourself
from the mailing list and from reading bug reports.

Otherwise, please learn some manners and be careful of the way you address
people.

I am frustrated enough about this error damaging my system I do not need
your patronizing tone. You have offended me and you should apologize.
The line that you say is written on the terminal, is not displayed as the
last line where it prints that there is an error and stops the process so it
is reasonable to be overlooked.
Nevertheless, If you require the file

"fmtutil-sys failed. Output has been stored in
/tmp/fmtutil.YDqeucxh"

there are many ways to ask for it. Ways that civilized people use. For your
reference and education here are a few:

1. Could you please add the file /tmp/fmtutil.YDqeucxh to your report?
2. Unfortunately we can't assist you at the moment as we are missing
information contained in the file /tmp/fmtutil.YDqeucxh.
3. Please upload the file /tmp/fmtutil.YDqeucxh so that we can assist you.
....

I attach the file.

Regards,

Dr. Pavlos Antoniou

I have the same problem, tested several texlive-lang-* packages.

The contents of the mentioned file, /tmp/fmtutil.abEvplgF:

fmtutil: no format depends on `/home/gnute/.texmf-var/tex/generic/config/language.dat'.

Searching for the errormessages and contents of /tmp/fmutil.[] didn't bring up any useful information as far as I could see.

Hi there,
i fixed the problem but i do not know if it will work for you but I will
tell you what i did in case it helps you.
I think the problem occurred in the first place because I did not have
enough disk space to finish the upgrade and the packages were damaged
because of this.
So, first i deleted unnecessary files and made sure i had a lot of free disk
space that will allow all the packages to be installed.
I then downloaded the latest version of ubuntu and burned it into a cd and
did a fresh installation form the cd (i did not upgrade through ubuntu). I
installed version 9.04.

After the new installation everything worked fine.

Good luck.

I currently have 4.4G free space on my / partition, quite recently reinstalled from cd.

As I wrote this, I removed the .texmf-var directory from my home directory, and that fixed it.

Which means something gets broken in the configuration between 8.10 and 9.04. Having a separate partition for /home, the old files got carried over, and somehow broke it.

Thank you, isildur. I should have guessed, but didn't :).

Thanks gnute,

I had the same problem and could only solve it after removing .texmf-var.
