Bug Description

Binary package hint: debian-installer

Hi there everybody I got a problem with Ubuntu Studio 9.04 that is on my Acer Aspire 5610Z, Intel(R) CPU T2080@1.73 GHz, memory 2.00 GB, 32-bit OS (Vista Premium Home edition). It had worked just fine for a week, and now, as soon as I login and try to make a mouse move, it freezes forever. Can you help? I'm about to install a different distribution. Thanks, Andrei

I installed the packages ubuntustudio-desktop, ubuntustudio-audio, ubuntustudio-video (and their dependencies) on top of an ubuntu jaunty install..

When I select the real-time kernel at boot time (via grub menu) - vmlinuz-2.6.28-3-rt - I see a similar behaviour. The system locks up within 30 seconds or so a

Not booting the real-time kernel, but the generic one - vmlinuz-2.6.28-11-generic - allows my system to run without the lockup, but my sound has issues (as the jackd deamon does not have a rt kernel to talk to, I believe).

I had no problem with a standard Jaunty 32bit install. When I installed Ubuntu Studio I got lockups constantly so I can't use this system now.

I had installed with EXT4 so I tried reinstalling wth EXT3. Same problem.

I have an Nvidia card but I checked what graphics driver the OS was using. That being said, I did install the recommended proprietary driver but the problem continued. I haven't tested to see if a regular kernel fixes the problem becuase 1) I'm sure it will since I had no problems with Ubuntu Jaunty 2) The system will be of no use to me without RT I think.

Same deal here.

Asus Crosshair
nVidia GTS 8800
AMD 5600

Few seconds after logging in, system locks up.

Tried creating a virtual machine, install the OS again (BTW 64-Bits), update, then remastersys to burn an image already updated.

Had no chance to update. The system barely shows the Update Manager and then hangs.

Anything I can do to make this work will gladly try. This distro is useless as it is right now for me. Downloading 8.04.1.

Are you running the nvidia closed source driver?

Ubuntu 8.04.3 no problem.
9.04 freezes right after login, with no option to configure or update anything.
