Ubuntu theme breaks notifications when attached to a bottom panel

Bug Description

At least when an arrowed notification with a custom pixbuf set is shown, with the arrow pointing down, the notification is incorrectly shown. It /seems/ to work fine with a top panel or with other notifications, such as the one from update-notifier (which uses a stock icon). rhythmbox for instance is affected.

Details (not 100% tested, this is from what I know after I studied bug 31200, which has a different yet similar problem:
* notify_notification_new() with a stock-icon as 3rd argument works
* notify_notification_new() with a NULL 3rd argument followed by a call to notify_notification_set_icon_from_pixbuf() fails.

I'll attach a screenshot.

Shouldnt we revert back to clean rectangular areas?

Quote from http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/flight4 :
"New Old Notifications
Here is a prime example of why Open Source software and specifically GNOME and Ubuntu rock so hard. In the previous flight a new notification bubble was implemented on the GNOME desktop. Many users expressed their dislike of the feature and so it was changed. The Ubuntu developers listened to the opinions of its users and took their advice. Dapper now uses the original more professional looking style for the notifications shown below. "

But now we see those noobish bubbles back...

NO, this theme is really clean and professional, the previous one was gartoon-like and didn't fit with the rest of the desktop.

There are 3 different themes. standard, bubble and ubuntu. bubble is the fancy one, but it has quite a lot of bugs and doesn't look pro, but standard works alright. IMHO, it would be wiser to fix the standard theme to correctly use the colors from the gnome theme. Anyway, this isn't the right place to discuss this: Take it to the mailing lists, and/or in the discussion in #34434.

BTW, I don't know for the bubble theme but the standard theme suffers from a very similar bug: see bug 31200 and http://trac.galago-project.org/ticket/21 .

Took a quick look today and it doesn't seem to be fixed using notification-daemon_0.3.4-0ubuntu5.
Upstream fixed it in 0.4.0, it's pretty trivial. The patch is here: http://trac.galago-project.org/changeset/2761

Oops, I meant 0.3.5 and not 0.4.0.

This was fixed by some recent update, but the discussion happenned in a duplicate bug so it can stay closed :-)

I can confirm this but only when rhythmbox-album-art plugin enabled.

Ahh, that's correct! It only occurs with the Album Art plugin enabled.

This also seems to occur when you switch songs while a notification bubble is still visible from a previous song switch. It even happens with the Album Art plugin disabled.

The similar bug seems to be present in Xubuntu Jaunty beta. Notification bubble, pointing to network manager icon is clearly rendered incorrectly (see screenshot).
Notification-daemon version: 0.4.0-0.ubuntu3 .
(After some experiments with pynotify I realised, what notification bubble is rendered incorrectly only after it is updated with pynotify.Notification.update() and only when it is pointing down).
