[Dapper] Notification bubble cuts the icon

Most of the time, there is only one line of text in the bubble, and this is not enough to see the entirety of the icon: the bottom of it is clipped.

If the song name and/or artist name is very long, and occupy 3 lines of text, I can see the icon in full.

This is still a problem as of today. It has been reported upstream ( http://trac.galago-project.org/ticket/21 ) but it's still unclear where the problem comes from.

Since there is no activity on notification-daemon bug upstream yet it might be better to patch rhythmbox to not use an icon in the notification bubbles for the time being. It's a trivial patch (much trivial than patching notification-daemon to fix it, I tried this :), and I can make it if needed.

It used to be like in your first screenshot with the old standard theme. I'm still experiencing this problem with the standard theme.

I think the problems have the same root (icon being set after the notification is created), the engines are different though so it's causing a different problem.

I'll update my dapper to the latest version to see if anything changed but I haven't see any notification related change so it's a bit strange it's fixed on your side.

Mathieu, I think I know what's your problem... I just managed to reproduce it.
Just drag your gnome panel at the top of the screen (where it is, in a default install), should fix your problem :o)
Looks like the problem is to do with the notification thingy obviously not handling properly bubbles when they are drawn bottom/top instead of top/bottom like they are in a default install.

I did the same test you did just after I made my comment. This bug is still present for the standard theme (you can change it via gconf-editor, in /apps/notification-daemon). For the ubuntu theme, it looks fine with a top panel, but it's bugging like in my previous screenshot with a bottom panel.

I'll open a new bug, this one is different and still valid IMHO, since I suspect a number of users will still keep the standard theme, since it blends much better with a lot of gtk themes.

Note that this problem with the standard theme happens with both bottom and top panels, so there might be something to steal from ubuntu theme to fix it (since this one works with a top panel)

I can't seem to reproduce this. However I'm still having this bug when using the "standard" theme, see bug 34547 (which contains the link to the trivial patch that was applied upstream to fix this)
