Bug Description

On Dapper, after an upgrade from Breezy.
When logging out, gnome-panel doesn't exit properly. You can still see it in the processes list after logging out from GNOME.
Whe logging in again, gnome-panel displays a message saying another instance of gnome-panel is already running; it then tries to restart itself but fails to do it properly.

I can confrim this on x86 Dapper. Quite an annoying bug.
Workaround:
Logout
Ctrl-Alt-F1
Login
killall gnome-panel
Logout
Ctrl-Alt-F7
Login as normal

Changed in gnome-panel:
status: Unconfirmed → Confirmed

Lukas, could you try killing 'mixer_applet2' instead of gnome-panel? Does this "fix" it for you?
