Gnome Compatibility not enabled on upgrade

Binary package hint: compizconfig-settings-manager

Important key combinations such as Alt+F1 and Alt+F2 are not enabled unless gnome-compatibility is enabled. Since it is not enabled by default anymore, users may not know that this option needs to be activated.

That sounds more like a compiz issue than a ccsm issue.

Confirming, this needs to be enabled by default really as Alt+F1 and Alt+F2 doesn't work, as you pointed out.

I've also lost the ability to start a terminal with any keyboard shortcut, and jump-moving and jump-resizing windows by keyboard with the "shift+arrow" combination (regular movement via "alt+space, m, arrows" and resizing via "alt+space, r, arrows" still works)

I installed compiz 1:0.7.9+git20090211-0ubuntu6 but Alt+F2 still does not work.

Do I have to change anything else in order to make it work again?

You might need to manually enable Gnome integration by navigating to System -> Preferences -> CompizConfig Settings Manager

I performed the following steps:

* sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager
* In "System -> Preferences -> CompizConfig Settings Manager" category "General" I enabled "Gnome Compatibility"

I upgraded to Jaunty today and was bitten by this bug: Alt-F2 didn't work, my custom terminal hot key didn't work.

When I checked ccsm I saw that GNOME Compatibility was disabled.

I got compiz 1:0.8.2-0ubuntu6 which is supposed to have this fix. Why didn't it work?

It may be relevant to mention that I use the flat-file configuration backend for compiz.

Hi There,

   I have been using Jaunty Gnome for 5 months and never had any issue with ALT+F2. Last night I did following things after which Alt+F2 stopped working.
>> removed gnome-panel using gconf-editor
>> played around with stalonetray
>> installed and removed KVM
>> installed Virtual Box
>> did lots of alt+f2 to find commands for the applications I want put it on AWN manager.
>> reduced the size of icons on desktop using Nautilus>>Edit>>Preferences.

I don't know where I screwed it up. I checked the Gnome Compatibility in CCSM. All seems fine..but Alt+f2 doesn't work :(
