Bug Description

I got this message while dl security updates:
E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

...ran it and got:

darrell@Valhalla:~$ sudo dpkg --configure -a
dpkg: ../../src/packages.c:221: process_queue: Assertion `dependtry <= 4' failed.
Aborted

Trying to update headers etc. for: 2.6.27-11.27 (edubuntu)

This is a rarity for me too :) Which can only be to the credit of the people who maintain the system. My hat is tipped. The problem seems to be fixed (for me anyhow).

I noticed when I was trying to do other things it would complain about ffmpeg or xine (can't remember which). I ended up removing them and reinstalling them and haven't had the problem since. hope that helps

Thanks Brian, I was a little premature when I said that the problem was fixed. Just now I tried to install something and got the same message (once). After clicking on 'Check' to verify updates it went through just fine without the error message.

ffmpeg or xine (can't remember which). I ended up removing them and
reinstalling them and haven't had the problem since. hope that helps
