paths won't combine

Original paths were combined to create a new path, then this path was duplicated. It was cut and pasted onto a new layer. The same thing was done with another path. Then both paths were selected, but Combine Path did nothing. Neither object was locked in Object Properties. I was finally able to get the paths to combine by pasting them into a new document and saving it. Maybe saving it tweaked some anti-combine data? The problem paths still exist and still can't be combined.

Confimed on Windows XP, Inkscape 0.46.
But it seems to work with rev. 21460, and thus I mark the bug fixed.
Feel free to reopen this report if you still have this bug.

FYI, each of your paths are in a group, which seems to prevent the combine command from working.
A 0.46 workaround consists in ungrouping the paths before combining them.
