Bug Description

after I've installed the 2.6.27-5-generic kernel my external USB HD wont mount

the device I'm talking about is a SAMSUNG HM080HC USB DEVICE

I was able to use it both on Hardy heron and on Intrepid alpha 6, now when I need to use that device I have to switch on my second O.S. (MS Vista)

hope you'll fix this bug.

I cast doubt on my bug description in particular when I said: << from the kernel upgrade >>, I might have said : << close to a kernel upgrade, I begun beeing unable to mount the external USB device...>> because in the same period, I accepted to install a very large amount of Intrepid patches and upgrades coming from Ubuntu's official repository

Ubuntu 8.10 RC Intrepid Ibex also does not mount the external IDE hard drive (don't recall the brand) in my NexStar GX enclosure. Was working fine with 8.04.

Encountered the same issue with Xubuntu 8.10 RC on my MSI S270 Megabook notebook. Xubuntu 8.04.1 recognizes my external USB hard drive, but when I upgraded to 8.10 (via "update-manager -d"), Xubuntu no longer mounts the drive and produces similar dmesg output as Ubuntu 8.10 on my desktop.

Shang:

Thank you! I hadn't noticed that it was a duplicate. Guess I must
have been so focused on the bug details that I missed the duplicate
message.
