Konqueror doesn't play flash videos in Kubuntu 7.10

Binary package hint: konqueror

Flash videos at sites like youtube.com and tudou.com do not work properly in Konqueror in Kubuntu Gutsy 7.10 . Opening up a video just displays a grey box with audio but no sound. Konqueror slows down/hangs but does not crash. Opening up the flash test page at the adobe website, does display the flash animation properly though.

I have the following installed:-
pool/multiverse/f/flashplugin-nonfree/flashplugin-nonfree_9.0.48.0.2+really0ubuntu12_i386.deb
pool/main/k/kdebase/konqueror_3.5.8-0ubuntu2_i386.deb

Could Konqueror be using flashplugin-alternative.so instead of libflashplayer.so even though /usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree has been added to plugins>scan folders, and some conflict coming into play?

The workaround at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kmplayer/+bug/190168 works
for me (although not perfectly). I compiled kmplayer from source with
npplayer support.
