Bug Description

This is a new version of snapd. It was created only because 2.61.2 did not build on noble.

The changelog is available here https://github.com/snapcore/snapd/blob/2.61/packaging/ubuntu-16.04/changelog, the raw git changelog is available here: https://github.com/snapcore/snapd/commits/2.61 (note that the debian changelog is auto-generated from the merges of the git commits so there is usually no need to look at the raw git commits).

The snappy team released a new release that we want SRU into focal+. The process described in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SnapdUpdates was used and we have done integration-tests on the snappy images, autopkgtests on classic and unit tests.

GitHub Actions test runs can be found at https://github.com/snapcore/snapd/actions?query=branch%3Arelease%2F2.61

Feature freeze exception request for Noble.

Hello Philip, or anyone else affected,

Accepted snapd into mantic-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snapd/2.61.3+23.10 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-mantic to verification-done-mantic. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed-mantic. In either case, without details of your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s) fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in -proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

Accepted all the snapd uploads. Besides running the automated testing, I'd like someone to run the proposed snapd for every series and try some basic snap interactions (and a reboot) just in case. I'm fine if someone convinces me that automation tests all of that already though!

Has anyone looked into the systemd autopkgtest regression? It doesn't *appear* to be related, but the failing DNS test appears consistent and is not obviously a broken test.

The verification of the Stable Release Update for snapd has completed successfully and the package is now being released to -updates. Subsequently, the Ubuntu Stable Release Updates Team is being unsubscribed and will not receive messages about this bug report. In the event that you encounter a regression using the package from -updates please report a new bug using ubuntu-bug and tag the bug report regression-update so we can easily find any regressions.

oh snap, that was a mistake, didn't notice the test failures before hitting accept

that said, the failures are not due to this update but something earlier, possibly kernel
