i cant see the usplash

Bug Description

When i boot ubuntu "gutsy gibbon" for first time, i cant see the usplash, instead i get is a black screen, after a few seconds, i can see the GDM...

Thanks for your bug report. In order to help that bug getting fixed, can you provide the following informations?

1. The actual resolution of your screen (as shown in System / Administration / Screens and Graphics)
2. The result of this command on a terminal : cat /etc/usplash.conf
3. The result of this command on a terminal : uname -a
4. The result of this command on a terminal : lspci -nn | grep VGA

This is the result:

1. My Monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster 400b and my actual resolution is 1024*768

2. $ cat /etc/usplash.conf

# Usplash configuration file
xres=1280
yres=1024

3. $ uname -a

Linux exile 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Tue Feb 12 02:46:46 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux

4. $ lspci -nn | grep VGA

00:0d.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: nVidia Corporation GeForce 6100 nForce 405 [10de:03d1] (rev a2)

Thanks for your fast answer. This problem is probably a duplicate of bug 150930 which is fixed in Hardy. Can you follow these instructions and confirm if it fixes your issue?

1. Edit your /etc/usplash.conf file to contains the same values as your actual resolution (xres=1024 yres=768), you can do this by typing this on a terminal : gksu gedit /etc/usplash.conf
2. Once you saved the change, type this in a terminal to apply the changes in usplash : sudo update-initramfs -u
