Please transit this deb package to a snap

Bug Description

This package is not maintained by the upstream project maintainers and it gets lots of reports about crashes and bugs. I would like to suggest a transition to a snap installer so that installing this package would automatically install official snap package of Telegram Desktop:

https://snapcraft.io/telegram-desktop

Like it was done for Firefox, Chromium.

That way the upstream maintainers could take care of the users of this package. Thank you.

The debian package is forever out of date in stable releases, making it either useless or a bad experience for users. Upstream Telegram development and changes are IMO too much to track in 6 monthly Ubuntu releases, even if we aggressively made officially unsupported backports. The snap seems the logical thing to provide for most users. If people do not like snaps there are other options such as Telegram's own self updating binaries, flatpak etc

I suggest doing it a little differently.
Make this package as installer/unpacker of the bin version from the telegram desktop site.

Turning this package into a snap can be poorly welcomed by users.

Also, telegram from snap does not know how to open links in snap firefox (personally with me).

The problem with transforming it to manage the installer/unpacker of the bin version is that it still requires maintenance.

The right-way-to-go(tm) should be to fix the link problems.

Mmm... I've been doing tests and links do work fine... both snap Firefox opens links clicked on snap Telegram, and snap Telegram opens channels from links clicked on snap Firefox...

I meant to have this transitional package *removed*, sorry. See the thread and bug 2008258 for details.
