Bug Description

Binary package hint: sound-juicer

DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=8.04
DISTRIB_CODENAME=hardy
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu hardy (development branch)"

(Updated completely as of 2008-02-29, 13:00 CET)

Package: sound-juicer
Version: 2.21.92-0ubuntu1

What happened: A CD was loaded for ripping and I wanted to check first so the ripping settings was ok. Edit->preferences just makes the application unresponsive and hangs, and eventually it crashes with attached trace.

Trying to access preferences with no disc results in sound-juicer just disappearing immediately with no trace whatsoever.

Expected: a preferences dialog. :)

I have experienced Sound Juicer completely disappearing when "Preferences" is selected with and without a cd inserted. No errors appear or any messages that state that there was a crash.Its as if choosing Prefernces is another way to close the application.

This is with Ubuntu Hardy Alpha 5. Thank you all for listening.

UPDATE: After last nights update (03/08/2008) I have made small progress in Soundjuicer. SOundjuicer>Edit>Preferences> The prferences menu opens, freezes(meaning i can move the mouse around but can not make chages to the preferences menu), then closes on its own. Before it would just close when clicking preferences.

I can confirm after last nights upgrade to Hardy Alpha 6 this is still an issue.
Edit> Preferences> System closes. Sometimes the application does not imediately close. Sometimes the application displays the Preferences menu but changes can not be made and the menu eventually closes along with the application. I am now receiving an error that the system crashed and a notification stating if i would like to report the error. This crashes whether there is a CD in the bay or not. This is occurring on a Fujitsu laptop.

I just ran all updates tonight and the issue has gone away. I successfully ripped a CD without any more crashing.

DAVIDBAUCUM: Were you able to go into Preferences and change the default format type to anything other than OGG? I was still having trouble with this even after last nights(03/06/2008) update for Hardy Alpha 6.

It's currently not fixed, even with recent updated. But this bug has been fixed upstream two days ago. Should land in Ubuntu soon...
