Bug Description

On hardy, with dapper through hardy guests and vmdk disk.

If I boot into text-mode (ie no X), then modify a longish file in vi (eg /etc/X11/xorg.conf), if I hold an arrow key to scroll, once the screen catches up with the scrolling, I no longer can use the 'Shift' key. Pressing 'Ctrl+Shift', waiting awhile (several seconds), then clicking into the virt-manager window so it grabs focus will sometimes allow the shift key to work again.

Here is a better way to repoduce:

1. boot into text mode
2. login
3. hold backspace key for 5 seconds (maybe longer)
4. type Shift+S

and here is how to get the shift key back:
1. press Ctrl+Alt
2. click 'View/Graphical Console' from within the Virtual Machine Details
3. click in the virt-manager window (so it grabs focus)

I got similar keyboard anomalies in text mode (debian 4.0 guest) using virt-viewer.

After some time some keys start disappearing between host and guest.
In most cases "Shift" stops to work. Pressing "Shift" + "a" results in no character send.
Sometimes even standard keys like "s" or "a" stops to work.

After switching to another window and back to the original window the behavior is ok again.

There's a good chance this will be fixed, when https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk-vnc/+bug/199054 gets approved. Stay tuned.
