nautilus-extension-gnome-terminal was already installed.
note that the option 'open in terminal' appears together other missing options if I enable gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons-ng
and disappears if I disable it.
see attachment for the options I see with gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons-ng enabled

I don't think that feature makes sense in gnome-shell which has no desktop icons at all.

If you would like it added to gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons or gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons-ng then please let us know.

as I said above if gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons-ng is activated the option appears.
but 'open in terminal' does not use an icon on desktop but just opens a terminal, and ctrl+alt+t works fine to open the the terminal also if gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons-ng is not activated.

I didn't realize Ubuntu had switched to gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons-ng while I was away, but it's disabled by default after upgrades. So yes "Open in Terminal" does exist there.

It still makes no sense for the case without extensions (gnome-shell task) because there is no context to be opened in a terminal there. The 'Desktop' folder is meaningless in that case so opening it in a terminal is also meaningless.

I will update all the tasks with the correct status at the top of this page now...

Remember to enable the new extension using the 'Extensions' app.
