Ubuntu Version Number in Grub

Ubuntu installer currently does not post the Ubuntu version number in the GRUB
labels. This leads to much confusion when multiple versions of Ubuntu are
installed. Is there any reason not to have "Ubuntu 5.10, kernel 2.6.12-3-686"
instead of "Ubuntu, kernel 2.6.12-3-686"?

Final Dapper version doesn't include the Ubuntu version number. If this is unlikely to ever be implemented, should this bug be rejected instead?

I'm changing this ticket to a feature request, it seems more appropriate.

Just because it didn't get done in Dapper doesn't mean it will never get done :-)

What about using the lsb_release command to returns the Ubuntu release number?

Run this command from a terminal:
$ lsb_release -sr

The lsb-release package is installed by default on both Dapper and Edgy.
