Mint 20 will be supported in our next release.

Meanwhile the communication issue which are facing is similar to below issue on Ubuntu 20.04.
Please refer below issue :

In fresh Mint 20, there will be inbuilt hplip installed. You can try to print via network since this problem is coming for USB

hplip should move to qt5 as qt4 is deprecated. Even latest hplip which claims mint 20 support won't install in a fully updated linux mint 20 due to dependencies problem that no longer exist and therefore cannot be installed.

Other option is to provide hplip (if it is possible) as appimage, flatpak or snap
