Bug Description

I have noticed a bug with the applications menu. I am having a weird issue with adding apps into folders on the menu. If I try opening a folder, the entire screen glitches out and the bar on the right-hand size showing how many pages are on the menu show more pages than there actually is.

Occasionally if I try adding or removing an app to a folder, the entire system freezes. The only way I am able to get things back to normal is a forced restart by holding down the power button.

The only way I have been able to not come across this issue is to have no folders in my menu at all, which took a while as the system kept crashing during the process. However, I am no longer experiencing the issue with no folders, but it returns when I try creating a folder.

Thank you for your bug report. What menu are you talking about exactly? Could you make a screenshot or video showing the issue? (using a phone could be a good solution in such cases)

Those are two separate issues:

 * Too many page indicators

 * Freezes with managing folders (bug 1874299)

Since the second issue already has a bug we should make this about the first issue only. Although I thought it had been fixed already as bug 1870847. So what gnome-shell extensions are you using? Anything unusual?

Could you also add the output of

$ dpkg -l | grep shell

Version 69 of Dash to Dock fixed this bug, at least in my tests.
Can someone else test if it works?

Disable Ubuntu Dock in Extensions app and install version 69 of Dash to Dock in extensions.gnome.com

There's also a great video showing the issue in duplicate bug 1899956.

I think this can be considered fixed as per GNOME 40 refactor, isn't it?

Please re-open if that's not the case.
