Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

Hardy alpha 4.

Places Menu -> Computer

The Computer 'bookmark' has icons called CD-ROM Drive for CD-ROM Drives. If you click on the icon when the drive is empty nothing happens. This is confusing.

It should say empty CD-ROM Drive, or have a pop up saying that there is no media. To do nothing at all seems weird.

nautilus 1:2.21.90-0ubuntu1

Bugs #188257 and #188255 are related.

If I stick an audio CD in the CD drive it no longer appears in /Places/Computer!

This should say Audio CD or something, not vanish!

If a data CD is inserted the CDROM-Drive icon is replaced by a different graphic (just of a CD) and the name of the disc.

Thanks for your bug report. This bug has been reported to the developers of the software. You can track it and make comments here: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=514135

No need to use the ubuntu version in the bug title that is of no use an create extra work, if a bug is opens it's there on hardy and when hardy+1 will open the title will need to be updated

Floppy disk still don't work. I put a floppy disk in the drive, and I click on the Floppy disk icon, but the drive LED don't light. Ubuntu don't even try to access the disk. Instead, I get the following error message:

No media in the drive

I'm using the latest nautilus:

ricardo@kadath:~$ dpkg -s nautilus | grep Version
Version: 1:2.21.92svn20080303-0ubuntu1
ricardo@kadath:~$

Same here, still no floppy drive. The CD-ROM problem seems to be resolved though.

I am also using the latest version of Nautilus in Hardy alpha 5, fully updated.

Same error.

I have confirmed that the drive and the disk are good.
