How can I reproduce the problem?
I tried the following using a clean chroot:
1) I removed the "restricted" section from my /etc/apt/ sources. list, and updated the apt-cache (or installing 418 it would be impossible)
2) I installed the 418 driver (using the nvidia-driver-418 metapackage). It is the 418.74- 0ubuntu0~ 18.04.1 version which I copied from ppa:oem- solutions- group/nvidia- driver- staging into the following PPA, for easy access (since it was superseded in the original PPA): /launchpad. net/~albertomil one/+archive/ ubuntu/ nvidia- select
https:/
3) I re-added the "restricted" section in my /etc/apt/ sources. list, and updated the apt-cache.
4) I did a dist-upgrade, and I could not reproduce the problem, since the upgrade from 418 to 430 went smoothly.
