Hi Ron,

I don't have a 3.0 test server available at the moment, but I'm unable to replicate this behavior on a server running 3.1. Is this happening on the place hold screen or somewhere else? If it's on the place hold screen, did you enter the date in the following format: MM/DD/YYYY? Is there an error message that appears when you try to set the activation date?

There is no error message; it just doesn't suspend the hold. The clerk read through this email, and confirmed that she is entering the date in the correct format.

The suspend activation works on the place hold screen, but you cannot go into a patron account and suspend the hold from there.

This is a feature we use quite often for placing holds for our book discussion group. We will select three months' worth of titles and suspend the dates out to arrive in a timely manner for each month's discussion.

Thank you for your attention to this issue.

Hi Ron,

I don't have a 3.0 test server available at the moment, but I'm unable
to replicate this behavior on a server running 3.1. Is this happening on
the place hold screen or somewhere else? If it's on the place hold
screen, did you enter the date in the following format: MM/DD/YYYY? Is
there an error message that appears when you try to set the activation
date?

Trying to confirm in both 3.0.8 and in current master.

From the patron holds I had to suspend a hold and set an activation date in several steps. I selected the items to be suspended and then from the actions menu I selected suspend. I selected the items again, and then from the actions menu I selected Edit Hold Dates in order to change the activation date.

Maybe we need to add activation date as an option in the suspend modal?

I was also able to set the activation date following the steps described by Garry.

+1 to the idea of including the activation date on the suspend modal.

However, I want to clarify what I said earlier regarding the date format. That date format is the format that needs to be used in the public catalog. The format used in the client depends on local setting. However, since there is a calendar widget here, it should automatically putting the date in the correct format.

Ron, I have a question. When I set the activation date, it successfully updates the date, and I can verify this by adding the Activation Date to the grid through the column picker. However, I noticed that if I select the option to edit the hold date again, it doesn't show this new date in the modal. It always shows today's date.

Is it possible the clerk is trying to verify the change was made by selecting Edit Hold Dates again and, seeing that the date hasn't changed, believes it hasn't updated? I can see how that would be confusing.

I don't believe that this is the case. We have been receiving books that
we are not ready to receive, based on the meeting date of our book
discussion group. We have had to change activation dates in the XUL client
to make sure this doesn't occur

We have just updated to 3.3.3. Editing the Activation date still does not suspend the hold. I have found if I select Suspend, and enter an activation date, while I am placing a hold, the hold suspends, but does not automatically reactivate on the set day, as it should. The hold remains suspended until manually activated.

Confirmed in 3.2.3. The web staff client requires that you also take the action to Suspend Hold.

Additional information:

If selecting Suspend Hold / Set Activation Date at the time of hold placement, it works as expected.

If selecting the Suspend action in the OPAC My Account interface, it only suspends the hold - patron must click on Edit in order to edit the activation date. It would be nice if this could be done in a single step.
