Cannot search by Digital Bookplate, in OPAC, while logged into the web staff client in another tab.

Bug Description

Steps to reproduce:
1. Log into the staff client.
2. Open a new tab, and navigate to the patron OPAC
3. Pull down the Type drop-down box.

Expected Results: Digital Bookplate should be an option.

Actual Results: It ain't there.

Workaround: Use a separate browser.

Possibly Related: In this scenario, some other aspects of the OPAC are also not quite normal. For example, the page header (where libraries typically put a photo of the library, etc., and where the My Account button resides) is not present.

I'm not 100% sure of the precise trigger conditions here. There may be additional relevant conditions that I haven't pinned down.

Hi Nathan,

There is a related library setting for the Digital Bookplates/Copy Tags search feature to appear in the OPAC. There's documentation - here http://docs.evergreen-ils.org/reorg/3.0/cataloging/_searching_copy_tags.html#_digital_bookplate_search_field - but I don't think it lists the exact library setting to look for, which is "Enable Digital Bookplate Search." Does the same issue occur once you set the library setting to "True"?

Hi Nathan,

Apologies - I realized I'm asking about library settings because it wasn't explicitly stated in your initial description.

Also, can you also share which version of Evergreen this bug affects you? I usually access information on what the version of Evergreen is listed under the About page (via on the the triple bar icon next to your workstation and login details in the top right corner).

Even more awesome - would it be possible to see a screenshot of this display you're seeing? I'm really curious to see more! Thanks!

Just a note, the missing header/footer part is entirely expected. When logged into the web staff client, the OPAC intentionally hides all that because it expects to live inside an iframe within the staff client.

This is Evergreen 3.0.7. Sorry I forgot to specify that.

Note that this only happens in the browser that is signed into the staff client (which is Chrome). If we use a different browser (e.g., Seamonkey) that is NOT signed into the staff client, the "Digital Bookplate" search option does show up in the PAC.

Also, new information: this doesn't happen on every workstation.
Bug DOES manifest: our main cataloger's workstation, Windows Ten, Google Chrome Version 66.0.3359.181
Bug does NOT manifest: my workstation, Devuan jessie, Google Chrome Version 66.0.3359.181 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Bug does NOT manifest: my workstation, Devuan jessie, Chromium Version 57.0.2987.98 Built on 8.7, running on Debian (64-bit), installed from the jessie repository.
Bug does NOT manifest: circulation desk, Windows Seven, Google Chrome Version 66.0.3359.181 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Thank you, Nathan, for those details and additional testing!

So could one say that the bug is essentially where Digital Bookplate search option doesn't appear consistently in Chrome for either staff client or the OPAC? And I'm still assuming you have the relevant library setting set to TRUE.

As Mike noted above, the wonky OPAC display with no header/footers happens when you're logged into the staff client and then go to the OPAC in the same browser. (At that point, Evergreen automatically sign the staff account into the OPAC.) Could you try testing this bug where it does manifest by opening/logging in the staff client in one Chrome browser window, and then try creating a new Incognito Chrome browser session and looking at the OPAC then? I'd be curious to see if there's still an issue in the OPAC display, or in further testing, if it would change if a regular patron account logged in.

Sidenote: Evergreen is officially supported on Chrome and Firefox web browsers, but not for others e.g. Seamonkey.

Failed to reproduce in an incognito window, using the same copy of Chrome, on the same computer, where it does happen otherwise.

Oh, and yes, Enable Digital Bookplate Search is set to true.

Confirmed. Specifically, I do not see the Digital Bookplate option in the Staff Web Client following Nathan's steps. I can also confirm that, switching to Incognito will allow to view the bookplates in Basic search -> Type drop down option.
