Bug Description

Please sync androguard 3.1.0rc2-1 (universe) from Debian testing (main). We (the Debian Android Tools Team) did a bunch of testing related to the Ubuntu/bionic release. These are the final round of bugfixes from that efforts. It looks like we missed the testing import deadline, so this is stuck in bionic-proposed.

Changelog entries since current bionic version 2.0-3:

androguard (3.1.0~rc2-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * New upstream version 3.1.0~rc2

Thank you for driving this! Based on https://github.com/androguard/androguard/releases/tag/v3.1.0 I think this is unsuitable for upload after feature freeze without a release team exception as it contains feature changes. I encourage you to seek an exception though if you think this is appropriate.

We actually worked with upstream on to get an official release in time for the bionic freeze. Looks like we missed freeze deadline, since it was unstable but not yet testing in time for the freeze.

This is a major improvement to androguard, which is a key part of the Android dev and security researcher toolkit that the Debian Android Tools Team maintains.

We've been testing with the 3.1.0~rc2 version in Debian/testing, but if you want the final 3.1.0 release in bionic, I can do that update.

I think it's really about whether you want it in Bionic. If you do, you'll need to sell your case to the release team and ask specifically for a feature freeze exception here.

Seems that the underlying issue here is that the package no longer produces s390x binaries. These are still consumed by gplaycli.

At this point, I'm thinking it might just make the most sense to try my
hand at doing the Big Endian port for androguard, then get the s390x,
powerpc, etc. binary packages back. Does that make sense from your
point of view?

As this is an arch:all dependency we are always going to have that. Seems safe to remove s390x here:

Removing packages from bionic:
        androguard 2.0-3 in bionic s390x
Comment: s390x is not longer support and removed in Debian -- LP: #1758199
1 package successfully removed.

Changed in androguard (Ubuntu):
status: In Progress → Fix Released
