Bug Description

Dear All

When exporting to OpenOffice Drawing format (odg) the text of the figures
are not exported at all. You can reproduce this bug by just writing a
single word with Inkscape and exporting it to odg. (See the attached
example file.)

Best regards,

Paul

OK, but how can one make the text visible?

I tested Inkscape v0.45.1. This bug is in Linux version. Export is correct
in MS Windows version. The export is very similar in both of versions. Text
is exported as a set of lines in SVG format. In MS Windows version the set
of lines enclose area by symbol "Z" of SVG description, but the symbol "Z"
miss in Linux version. Therefore the set of lines doesn't enclose area and
it can't be filled.

Jarda.

I can confirm this problem with the graphic at wp:adenine. The characters are invisible. They can be made visible in OpenOffice, but they are still hollow.

Attached are two files generated with Inkscape pre4 on XP and Ubuntu 9.10.

The file converted on XP renders well with OpenOffice Draw on Ubuntu and XP.
With the other one the text fill is invisible on both operating systems.

When the original text has strokes, the strokes are correctly exported to ODG.

reproduced with Inkscape 0.47pre4 and r22566 on OS X 10.5.8, OOo Draw 3.1.1

see bug 474956 “odg export still doesn't work”, comment #5: SVG exported to ODG on Vista includes all text as closed and filled bézier curves when opened in OOo Draw on OS X. The same SVG file exported to ODG on OS X includes all bézier curves but they are not closed (i.e. unfilled) and the paths are set to 'invisible'. Closing each bézier curve in OOo Draw restores the original fill color.

Tested with 0.46 and had just no text visible. Now tested with 0.47pre4, now some curves are closed instead of being open, text is still invisible.

Still present in 0.48(+devel) - see new duplicate bug #658364

Possibly related to platform- or font-backend depending bug #596698: on linux/osx fonts converted to path are not closed (no 'z' segment) whereas on Windows the resulting paths are properly closed.

~suv - Could you please confirm it's also fixed on OSX?

Confirmed on Mac OS X 10.5.8 and OS 10.7.4 - independent of the versions of dependencies installed for inkscape, and of the version of LO used to verify the content:
- reproduced with Inkscape 0.48.3.1
- not reproduced with Inkscape 0.48+devel r11936
