Bug Description

Binary package hint: system-config-printer

The "Document print status" tool has some strings that shows untranslated in my Spanish desktop; however, the translations are made in Launchpad, and the translated strings are into the .mo file.

The strings are:

- "Document print status"
- "File"
- "View"
- "Show _completed jobs"
- "Show _printer status"

They are translated in the Launchpad template, as you can see:

https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/gutsy/+source/system-config-printer/+pots/system-config-printer/es/+translate

And the /usr/share/locale-langpack/es/LC_MESSAGES/system-config-printer.mo file contains the translations for all the strings, including the five above.

Is your Gutsy completely updated? In the last days I have packaged a version with fixes of translation problems (bug 147788, bug 147782).

Yes, my Gutsy is completely updated. My system-config-printer version is 0.7.75+svn1653-0ubuntu1. The two bugs you talk about are two different problems which are solved now thanks to you. This is a different problem.

Seems to be some problem of registering the translations in the upstream code. Tim, can you look into this?

Yes, this is a too big change for now, after release freeze. But it is an idea for improving the upstream code. Tim, WDYT?

For me I think the menu entry is the better solution. Users who simply print, but do not set up print queues (normal users) do not call the printer setup tool, but they want to manage their jobs. So they look for a job manager in the menus.

The change is trivial, could be something for gutsy-updates

Tim, is the APPDIR change in the SVN something you meant to commit or a local change you did to test quickly the domain setting?

Oops, thanks for catching that APPDIR change. It was accidental -- I've reverted it now.
