Bug Description
Binary package hint: update-manager
With the current update-manager in Ubuntu Feisty, during a distribution upgrade (to Gutsy), the user is told that he cannot pause the download. This is a problem, because the download with a 56k modem takes over 2 days!
It is, actually, quite possible to pause the downloading by forcibly killing the application. When the distribution upgrade is run again, the downloads will pick up where they were left off. However, this is certainly not a tidy way to break up downloading!
The program should offer an interface for pausing the download phase of upgrading so that the computer can be turned off and the download resumed at a later time.

Thanks for your bugreport.
This should be fixed for the feisty->gutsy upgrade. There is a cancel button during the download now. Please let me know if that is what you are looking for.
Thanks,
Michael
