Bug Description

Displayconfig tools is not able to configure my monitor correctly.
My max. resolution should be 1920x1200, but the displayconfig tool configures the monitor in a way that I only can use 1600x1200.
I am also not able to use the test-button, it seems to be deactivated. I have to log out and -in to see the result.
I also tried the *.inf-file from my driver CD but this give the same result.
So I still have to configure my display manually.

My System:
Graphic card: nVIDIA Geforce 8600 GT.
Driver version: 100.14.19 from the ubuntu package.
Monitor: BenQ fp231W

This is how the X.org.xonf gets configured through the displayconfig tool.

I still can't use my max resolution (1920x1200) with the latest Displayconfig tool version 0.3.1.
The Resolution is only as virtual resolution available.

I could only choose 1680x1050 as Physical resolution.
I think it is related to the modelines.

Less information for the xorg file would be better, I think.
All I need is this two lines to get my monitor working at max resolution.

 HorizSync 31-80
 VertRefresh 56-76

The rest will do the driver I think.

Maybe the 60Hz is to much for my monitor.
Nvidia-settings shows me a value of 58 Hz (Attachment).

I have tested the latest version of Displayconfig v 0.3.2 and I noticed if I choose 63hz instead of 50hz I can select my max. resolution of 1920x1200.

I don't understand why it doesn't work at 50hz but fortunately it works at 63hz.

I will close this bug.

If I find other problems I will reopen it.

best wishes

sorry that I have to reopen this bug, but I noticed that the gnome login screen (gdm) couldn't get the right resolution.
So it seems that there is still something wrong with the modelines

As you can see there is something wrong with the modelines I think. ddcprobe gives me the following information and as you can see on the bottom there is written "dtiming: 1920x1200@58".
So I don't know why I need a modeline which says

modeline "1920x1200@60" 193.16 1920 2048 2256 2592 1200 1201 1204 1242 -hsync +vsync

It doesn't seem to be correct, I only get problems with it.

Hopefully this will be fixed.

I mark this bug as invalid cause the displayconfig-gtk tool has been removed from the menu.
Xorg configures everything correctly out of the box, so I get my max. resolution without any problems.

displayconfig-gtk (0.3.8ubuntu1) hardy; urgency=low

  * Disable displayconfig-gtk in menus (replaced by Screen Resolution tool)
